Crown Recognized as “Military Friendly” School

Crown College has once again been named a Military Friendly® School for the 2016 year.  As an institution approved for military education benefits, Crown also provides veterans with military scholarships, accepts military credits according to the ACE recommendation, and has a dedicated Director of Veterans who works directly with the school’s veterans.  In evaluating the school, it was determined that Crown meets or exceeds the qualifications required to earn this distinct designation.

President of the college, Dr. Joel Wiggins notes “Veterans who understand the deepest aspects of service and sacrifice can easily relate that to the elevated type of love Christ expects of all of us [John 15:13].  At Crown, we work to provide our veterans with an outstanding education and the type of support and service they deserve.”

There are over 70 students enrolled on campus and online who are serving or have served in the United States Military.  For service members, the ethos of hard work, determination, integrity, duty, and selflessness fit well with Crown’s mission and values.  With the school’s broad range of academic programs and options to take courses on-campus or online, it’s a good choice for individuals changing careers or needing the flexibility of an online program.  Crown offers bachelor and master’s degrees in business, ministry, disaster & emergency management, education humanities, music, nursing, social science, and psychology & counseling.

Financial support is a large component of any education program and of the 70-plus student veterans, 11 are taking advantage of Crown’s online military scholarship, 49 are using VA or TA benefits, and 3 students qualify for Yellow Ribbon.  For veterans who live in Minnesota, they are also eligible to apply for the Minnesota GI Bill.

Crown’s Director of Veterans, Emily Cano, stated, “Crown is a perfect place for service members and veterans as we provide personalized and exceptional customer service for these busy students.    Our admissions counselors and advisors understand the needs of service members and go above and beyond to help them succeed and thrive. Crown invests in our nation’s veterans we are proud to support them.”
